What is it
Resistance training builds muscle strength. It traditionally involves
the use of weights, but can be achieved through a range of techniques.
In men, this form of training generally develops the size and definition
of muscles.

Methods
- Body weight exercises – use your own body weight to provide
resistance
- Stability exercises – exercises the require different
muscles to work together to promote balance and joint stability
- Free weights – exercises that target particular muscle
groups using weights to provide resistance
Variations
- Weight - The amount of resistance
- Speed – the slower, the greater the control required
- Repetitions – How many times you do the exercise followed
by a rest
- Sets – The number of times you do a set of Repetitions
followed by a rest
